On February 25th the Tallinn, Estonia council passed new rules and regulations for maintaining the beaches, which includes a ban on smoking at the beaches.
The new regulations also require that the beaches need sifting at the beginning of the tour season and once a month during the season.
Algae must be removed from the beach by 9am each day of the season.
The police of each municipality will oversee the enforcement of the rules and regulations.
Beaches included in the new rules are:
In Tallinn – Lake Kakumae and Harku
In Haabersti borough – Pirita beach
In North Tallinn borough – Pikakari and Stroomi beaches
