Tallinn Music Week 2016

March 28 – April 3, 2016

This is the 8th year of this influential festival.  It is one of the most distinguished cultural events in all of Europe.

This year there will also be Creativity for Change Forum to provide an exchange of ideas on diversity, quality and freedom to express ideas.

Creative groups from Europe, Baltic and Nordic areas will meet for this extensive program involving culture, food and of course, music.

Around the city there will be outdoor food booths and stages for entertainment and a special festival area created by the Estonian Arts Academy interior designers.

Creativity for Change Forum – On April 1, leaders in education, business, technology, science culture, arts, policy makers and civil society from over 50 countries will meet in Tallinn.  They will brainstorm and use their creativity, as the Fourth Industrial Revolution comes upon us.  The focus will be more transparency, democracy, diversity, tolerance, sustainable prosperity, equality and real freedom of expression.  (See example movie, created by Taavi Varm, Kaupo Kalda’s spots about Tallinn and musical director Dherro)

TMW Music – The International Festival will include a number of free concerts around the city. Over 200 different acts, representing various genres of music will perform around the city.

TMW Song Competition – The 1st professional song competition.  The writing event, sponsored by Eesti Laul and Music Estonia will be directed by Ben Malen, an accomplished Swedish publisher.

TMW Tastes – Fellin Café, from the small Estonian city of Viljandi will be one of the restaurants that will have food stands for your enjoyment.

TMW Arts – Young, popular artists will have exhibits sponsored by the Estonian Contemporary Arts Development Centre.  The event received applications from 47 different countries and a record 1,300 artist applications.

TMW Beer – First class craft beers will be served by different microbreweries

Design Market – A first for the festival, a 2 day gathering of designers from Estonia, Sweden, Finland, Lithuania and Latvia will feature their creations.

Official Hotel – Nordic Hotel Forum has been the home for the festival ever since 2009.  CEO and owner, Felix Mägus, is proud to host guests of the event.  This is a great example of art, culture and business coming together, as it promotes the region and Tallinn at the same time.
